It is the biggest and oldest national beauty pageant of Ghana. The contest was established in 1957, the year of Ghana’s independence, with Monica Amekoafia becoming the first-ever Miss Ghana. The winner signs a one-year contract with the pageant organiser to become the spokesperson for their various charities. In addition, she chooses a specific cause to support for the year of her reign.

Mavis is a financial analyst at the South African National department. Mavis owns a production company called MayMay Production and is the founder of Ghana Awards SA. She has worked on projects such as Big Brother Africa and Good Morning Africa (DSTV) and is the founder and a member of the executive team of GhanaFEST South Africa in collaboration with the Ghana High Commission.
Sheila Afari is a dynamic young entrepreneur. She owns a company called the Sheila Afari Group which won Best Business of The Year (Small/Medium) at the Ghana Awards SA 2015. The SheilaAfari Group comprises of Sheila Afari Public Relations, Lavish Industries and Miss Ghana South Africa amongst others.
